Clêmentê
Ignaxiô Delgaho Hy; Giám mục Ða
Minh; sanh khoảng 1761 tại Villa
Felice, Tây Ban Nha; chết 21/7/1838,
tại Nam Ðịnh. Ða số những
tin tức về thánh Hy xuất
xứ từ bản án tử
hình của ngài. Sau khi được
tấn phong là thừa sai Ða Minh,
ngài được sai đến
đây, nơi ngài hoạt động
vất vả trong 50 năm và
được bổ nhiệm
làm Ðại Diện Tông Tòa Miền
Tây. Ngài trốn trong làng Kien-lao
cho đến khi bị phản
vì sự tra khảo khéo léo một
đứa bé trai. Ngài bị nhốt
trong cũi. Khi bi tra khảo, ngài
trả lời thành thật mọi
sự về ngài, nhưng không
tiết lộ gì về các người
giáo dânkhác. Vì thế ngài đã
chết rũ tù năm 76 tuổi
vì bệnh kiết lỵ và đói
ăn trong một cái cũi bị
phơi nắng hè và bị người
qua lại xỉ nhục. Sau khi
ngài chết binh sĩ chặt
đầu ngài và ném thi thể
xuống sông, dân đánh cá vớt
được xác ngà và được
Ðức Cha Jerome Hermosilla chôn cất
tử tế. Phong Á Thánh 1900. Ngày
Lễ: 11 tháng 7.
Delgado, Ignacio
(Ignatius Delgado, Clemente Ignatius Delgado,
Clememté Ignaxiô Delgaho Hy); Dominican
bishop of East Tonkin; b. ca. 1761 at Villa
Felice, Spain; d. 21 July 1838, at Nam Ðịnh
(near Hà Nội), Tonkin. Most of the
information on Delgado derives from the
decree of condemnation. After professing
himself as a Dominican, he was sent to the
Tonkinese mission, where he labored for
nearly 50 years and was appointed vicar
apostolic of East Tonkin. He had been hidden
in the village of Kien-lao until he was
betrayed through the artful questioning
of a young boy. The bishop was locked in
a cage. When questioned he answered truthfully
about himself but would reveal nothing about
other Christians. For this the 76-year-old
bishop died of dysentery and hunger in a
cage exposed to the summer sun and the taunting
of onlookers. After his death soldiers cut
off his head and tossed his remains into
the river, where they were recovered by
fishermen and honorably buried by Jerome
Hermosilla. Beatified 1900. Feast: 11 July. |
